Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Yeast and sweet nose, some spices. Muddy golden colored body with a small white head. Very sweet flavor, with some alcoholic touch. Too sweet i think.

Pours a ruddy, thick, dark orange with a thin creamy pinkish head. Very earthy, as in dirt, in the aroma, with some yeast. Whoa. Not like any Tripel I’ve had. Woody and tart in flavor with some nuttiness. Musky. It has an unatural spiciness. Reminds me of some homebrew I made once with one of the lesser used British yeasts. Strange.

12 oz bottle. This poured red/gold with a huge fluffy whip cream head. Yeast is the nose. Lots of alcohol and port wine taste. The end is sour and unpleasant. Waited to taste this one, and, was not great.

Very drinkable for the alcohol %. A little sweet and not as hoppy as a typical Tripel. Nice on a hot summer day.

Batch 38. Bouteille, Somerville, Downtown Liquors, Janvier 2005.

From an enormous magnum, shared among several friends... Hazed, golden hue, big, rocky, off-white head Nose is an acme of sweetness, with touches of straw and spice, fruit-laden, apricot and peach, candy sugar aplenty....beautifully uplifting, with a nice, citric kick. Taste: Great hoppy bite at the front, bright, ebullient, and ever-so tasty. Pepper notes run aside the fruit. Medium bodied, tingly and tart, with a delicious yeasty character, and an everlasting zest. Impossible to not love, this is a fine one to luxuriate with...give that a try next time you need it most!
