Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Batch #38. Aroma is sweet, with hints of honey, brown sugar, bananas, and yeast. Smells like a true trippel. Hazy orange color with a nice frothy white head. From my first appearance of this, it would be difficult for me to say that this wasnt straight from Belgium. Start is somewhat astringent and dry. Malty yeasts in there with nice hints of sweetness and spices. Significant alcohol burn in the middle finishing decently hoppy. I think they did a damn good job of making a good Belgian Trip.

(bottle) I finally tried this after it was sitting in my fridge for awhile. The last thing I did when I tasted it was thinking about the name of it, rose... and that first taste... just has cemented that thought in my head. I’m not even quite sure what the taste was. But it was quite imposing which was good. Definitely not a sitting around the house kind of beer, and I don’t think I quite appreciated it as much as I should have. But as most HOTD beers are, this was interesting.

Lively golden appearance with a nice creamy white head. Lively aroma of oranges, herbal tea with a lemony sour note. Soft and well-rounded flavour of oranges, yeast and citrus acidity. Lång medium bitter finish. Fresh, lively and clean.

Pours turbid gold with a big, creamy, white head. Aroma of hopcit, malt, yeast, slight earthiness, bread, and candi sugar. Very complex, impressive aroma. Tastes citrusy, hoppy, with a lot of candi sugar at the finish. Above average complexity. A very well made beer, as are all HOTG beers. I thought the alcohol was well hidden, indicating to me that this one will be rated higher among the Beer Gods.

Squash beer , weird belgian, way too much carbonation, very cloudy beer, not very appetizing.

Thick amber head that lasts forever, moderately amber body, somewhat cloudy with bits of sediment. Flowery & sour aroma. Sweet, fruity with notes of banana, yeast and cirtic acidity. Alcohol is evident and somewhat potent.

2 year aged bottle. Aroma is light for the style. Muted candy sugar aroma. Dirty light gold. Smokey in the finish. Smooth. No noticeable alcohol.

Batch #38. Cloudy golden, fluffy and firm white head. A little flowery, some citrus, yeast, spice, and honey. Rich in body, smooth and creamy, some alcohol peeking through. A very nice American Tripel. Thanks a bunch Frielock.
