Commercial Description:
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Bought in the usual HotD brown 12 oz bottle "Batch 37". Poured into my Chimay Chalice..it looks like i got a bad one..the bubbly white head is way over the top , taking up half the glass..out of control.Below the foaming head the beer looks a nice golden amber,,hazy and inviting. The aroma is pleasant enough but rather weak for a tripel..you can certainlly pick up the coriander..and some sourness also. Taste os "OK"..mostly sweet malts and spicy coriander..you can notice the alcohol too.. Its ok in the mouth a little too carbonated. THis is an average Belgian style tripel..its drinkable but very exspensive for what it is..i can get New belgiums for cheaper and its way better.

Cool bright gold color, HUGE head as always with their beers. Smells like apples and alchohol, which also comes through strong in the flavor. All in all, a nice Tripel

Batch #33: Appearance is not the virtue of this ale. Beer pours very murky dark, golden with virtually no head on the pour and zero head retention. This one may be under-carbonated. Aroma is nice enough with candy sugar being front and center and a light floral scent. Flavor is even better. The intitial flavor is candy sugar. The finish abruptly ends prematurely. Not up to HOTD standards.

batch 36 this beer caused a scar that I have on my cheek 2 months after I opened it with a lighter and it popped off even before I pried it, and missed my eye by about an inch. the first "beer drinking injury I've ever sustained. Thanks for the scare Alan. Enormously carbonated, HUGE soft rocky head with little blocky islands of head lasting throughout the beer. Straw/golden body, sedimented throughout. Sweet light fruits, bannanna esters, honey and candi sugar. some clovey character as well as a hint of spicyness. a nice dry fruity trippel nose. alcohol noted. dry spicy and tart developing to a dry floral sweetness. Warming and tasty, quite complex. A grainyness emerges later and a bit of a salty character. warm and yeasty. BATCH 35 Pretty similar, but well settled, the first glass poured crystal clear. Nose in this was amazing. appley, sweet, coriander and candi sugar. almost apple cidery or pineappley and citrucy. layered and complex. smooth, sweet then dry

yummy. strap on dildos aren't my thing, but this 'golden rose' beer is quite tasty. this is a very enjoyable triple with a rather sexy, fluffy head. i like cloudy beers, too.

Batch #34. Bottle pours a hazy yellow gold color with a creamy looking head and good lace. The aroma is of yeast and hop. The flavor is nice and yeasty, fruity, hop notes, and very nice ripe cheese like. The palate is well carbonated, but cleanses rather than distracts. Overall, I am quite happy with this. Long live HOTD.

The aroma tickled the nose with some hop and alcohol smells. Poured with LOTS of head. It went away fairly quickly, but not all together. Good lacing during the consumption. Slight alcohol bite with nice citrus and flowery flavors intertwined.
