ChristianScheffel (2059), Odense, Denmark May 27, 2007 Copper beer with a small, lasting white head and constant bubbles. Unique aroma that is hard to describe. Flowers, pepper, citrus, barbeque sauce, earth and ummm... pickled beetroot? Dry flavour with a hint of acid. Not much in common with a regular tripel, but it’s a fun beer to try.
BMan1113VR (762), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Jul 28, 2008 Batch 34 thanks to kyzr. This beer is unlike any other tripel that I have head. Pours with a small, rocky quickly dissapearing head that left no lacing covering a hazy dark amber body that is way too dark for the syle. Aroma of brandy, plums, cherries, raisins, raspberries, sugar and honey. Taste is yeasty with fruits (rasisns and currants), canilla and candi sugar. Taste is good, but not faithful to the style in the slightest. On the syrupy side and nearly flat (again not too style). Alcohol is pronounced for 6%. Unsure how old this batch is. A good beer, but not a tripel in my book! Last 1/4 of the bottle, when added to my glass turned the beer the same color and clarity of mud. Batch 38. Deep golden color with an off-white head. Strong nose of alcohol (port wine/brandy) caramel, raisins and honey. Taste of raisins, pepper and spice. Nice finish. gunnfryd (2718), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 30, 2008 Bottle. Coppar colour with an off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, yeast, caramel, peppar. Flavour is sweet, alcohol, yeast, caramel, flower, pepper. Strange beer, but still a nice one. yngwie (3394), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 29, 2008 Bottle. It pours a clear, copper body with a small, off-white head. Sweetish, flowery nose with caramel and nuts, notes of roasted malt and a touch of alcohol. Sweet and sugary in the mouth, with caramel, some alcohol and pepper and Brazilian pepper. Medium to full body, rather sweetish and a bit biting mouthfeel. Lasting sweet and peppery finish. The flavor grows better and better as you drink it, and it’s one of the strangest tripels I’ve had. But nice! (080509)
