Aroma is wheaty with spices, orange zest and grapefruit. This beer had a strong flavor even though it was a low alcohol beer. Finished with a slight bitterness to the flavor. This was a pleasant surprise of a brew. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Smells like a bakery’s garbage cans. Wheat combined with a sweet and sour trash smell. Finishes quickly. Not a terrible beer, but surely, not one of my favorites. It is drinkable, but I found myself not wanting to. Very subtle flavor (if there at all). mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Pours a cloudy light orange color, with almost no head. A sharp acidic citrus aroma filled the air, almost like I’m smelling an orange, just scaled back a bit. The taste is very spicy, alot of citrus fruits. Orange peel, and some grapefruit are the main flavors that stand out to me. The bitter acidity is there too which I didnt particularly care for, although it wasnt offensive by any means. The finish is bitter citrus funk and the aftertaste is much the same. scrizzz (1305), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Updated: Oct 12, 2008hazy golden, little head and mandarin aroma. Orange notes that disappear quickly. Upon another bottle I find it to be in better balance than I remember. The organic pilsner malt is in ample quantity and the whole leaf hops open up nicely in the finish. theisti (1681), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 12 oz. bottle from Secret Santa. Somewhat hazy straw yellow with noticeable carbonation and an off white head. Aroma has a bit of sour fruit and mustiness. Taste is really difficult to describe, its very soft and refined. There is wheat, some very subdued spiciness and the finish is very smooth. Overall nothing jumps out at you, but the full package is very enjoyable. I had the Westy Blond earlier this week and there is something similar between these two. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Updated: Aug 29, 2007Aroma was a little sour which kind of shocked me a little bit. A little maltiness to this but really a light. Had a light weak maltiness to it.
On a second try, this just has a weird earthy vegetable flavor to it that really throws me off. CigarsLoveBeer (153), Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2007 Bottle, thanks to Jyppy for remembering me when he went out west. Aroma had nice nuances of banana and cloves. Some coriander too. The aroma foretells the flavor very well. A hefe start, that finishes like a Belgium golden ale. I was very happy with this one, fruity, with a very drying/ spicy finish. TipsyMcStager (928), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2007 Malty aroma with some burnt fruit notes, with some licorice and prunes. Pours a light cloudy pale yellow with some yeast floaties. Some earthy malt in the flavour. Some hops in the finish. I find this beer unusual for the golden ale/blond classification. Doesnt really fit easily in any particular category.
