The aroma is of yeast and malt. The flavor is malty with plenty of spices and the same yeast flavor I’ve tasted in every HOTD product I’ve ever had. Nice. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2007 Tulip glass. Golden with sediment and a small head. Light aroma of citrus, spice, fruit, and yeast. Taste is somewhat like a cross between a belgian saison and a light american pale ale. (More hops and less yeast). Crisp and refreshing. Not overdone. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2007 5/12/2007: Hair of the Dog Ruth is golden in color, hazy, and has lots of floating sediment in it. The pour produces a massive, foamy, rocky slightly off-white head that looks like whipped cream but is also long-lasting and leaves lots of cloud-like patterned lacing. The aroma is sweet and sugary and almostreminds me of a blend of pineapple and citrus juices with some floral notes as well. The flavor contains lightly toasted pale malts and is somewhat sweet. There are come juicy flavors as well (probably from the hops), but it is difficult to discern the individual flavors. There is a moderate bitterness that appears midway into the flavor and lasts through the finish. This beer has a medium body and a very mild level of carbonation. Smooth. A fine golden ale!
12 oz bottle from my sister brought home for me over the holidays (2006). Thanks Eryn! "Alcohol content 4.5 percent by weight." bhensonb (4278), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2007 LIght aroma of grassy and citrus hop. Hazy lemony gold color with a white head that hardly arrived, but left small pieces of lace (very small). Starts medium bodied, light malt, followed by citrus, and then some definite sweetness of malt comes forth. The finish is very lightly bitter. After a few swallows some Belgian style spice can be perceived. Light and refreshing it is. boFNjackson (1299), Portland, Oregon, USA

Poured a hazy, opaque orange with a thin head. The beer itself is nice looking, if it had a nice head I would have given it a 4. Sweet, roasted malt on the nose. Well carbonated which accentuated the hops and citrus fruits like grapefruit and clementines, that are all evenly balance by malt. Super refreshing, I may get this again. zach8270 (2103), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is sweet, spicy, grassy, and a bit hoppy. Flavor starts with a bitter hop flavor, very bitter, then moves on to a relatively smooth hoppy middle and a lingering bitter finish. Aftertaste is slightly sweet, almost like jellybeans.
