Poured carefully to try to keep as much yeast sediment as possible in the bottle, but still a hazy golden orange with a fizzy head that quickly settled in a fine lacing.
Aromas of honey malts, lemon herb hops and a Belgian ale type yeastiness.
Low carbonation, under carbonated for my taste, and slick with a smoothness that is a bit too much like water, light-medium bodied mouthfeel, I think the lack of carbonation hurts the body.
Pleasant tasting, but not the unique taste you would expect from HotD, a dry Belgian yeasty, a bit fruity, a light spicy herbal hop without much bitterness, subdued sweet, honey-like malts, for me, the malts are thin, and a dryish yeasty finish with a mesh of hops and malts lingering in the palate.
I wasn’t too impressed with this APA, actually disappointed because I love the other brews from HotD, this won’t be a regular with me.

I barely crack it and it starts spewing everywhere. Automatic 1/5 for appearance, I don’t care. Hazy golden, all head. Lotsa fruit in the nose with hints of grass and bread. Very complex but right now I don’t care. glkaiser (1172), Seattle, Washington, USA

A little bit grassy and floral, but just enough to still be refreshing. Thin. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas of yeast, floral, and grassy hops. Flavor is dough, honey, some light lemon, and a little caramel. Palate is light and refreshing. Fair carbonation. A little on the watery side. Nose is yeasty but clean at the same time and smells a bit like cider. Also some light citrus on the nose. Flavor is mild and a bit diluted, but still decent. Only slightly bitter with some more fruity notes. Mouthfeel is nice as far as carbonation, but too watery for me. Not bad, but not terribly exciting. AmazonMatt (285), Panama
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2006 Decent beer, likely a bit down-rated for style. Pours amber with hardly any head. A decent floral aroma. In the mouth it is light, and bitter with a bit of sour taste, and a bit watery mouthfeel. Light, and not bad, but I’ve been blessed with other beers that I much better preferred. This isn’t a bad beer that you want to drink a few cold in hot weather. Thanks James Maley for bringing this to Panama.
