Pours a cloudy golden hue with a small fading fizzy head but produced very good lace. The aroma has a lot of Saison character between the yeasty and mild spice notes of corriander and herbal hops, pear, bready malt, and candi sugar. Did detect some corn like off-notes as well as some phenolic esters. The taste starts with a heavy dose of flowery and bready yeast, pale malt, and twangy acidic fruit. The midesection is a bit more refined with a moderate bitter quality. The finish is big for something only 5.6% ABV, sharp and biting. Confusing beer for sure, doesn’t fit any style, but has I finished it I kept thinking how much I enjoyed it. If I didn’t know already, I would have said this is a over-the-top Saison. monty (39), Dallas, Texas, USA

What an interesting and delightful beer... Pours with the kind of big, fizzy, popping bubbles of which I’m not really fond; but they simmer down to a sheet of much finer bubbles that hold their lacing. This is called an American Ale, but so much of it reminds me of a Belgian - from the yeasty aroma to the dry, snappy saison quality to the candi element. Apricots stand out in the aroma and the flavor (even my non-beer-loving wife picked them out right away), alongside some other fruity and herbal notes. Mouthfeel is a bit too active for my tastes, at least to style. A good beer, nice for a hot summer night -- but very atypical for an American/golden ale.

Hazy and straw-colored, it has a short-lived, bubbly white head. The aroma is grassy with citric and yeasty scents. Light-bodied, it’s got a tart, somewhat funky citric taste. The finish is mildly bitter, midly sour. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
