Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 18, 2007 The beer after decanting the 22-ounce bottle pours a cloudy amber color with a prestigious creamy white head that settles leaving the lace to form a solid sheet on the glass. Nose is earthy, sweet with wheat, citrus like crispness, spicy, start is pleasantly sweet, decent grain profile; just a light touch of bitterness at the back, top is light to moderate in feel. Finish has a mild to medium acidity, the hops understated but present and accounted for, sweetness carries on until the end, fairly dry, and a nice clean and refreshing beer to start off a Sunday afternoon.
mephisto (1083), Taiwan May 27, 2008 a sweet and mellow hefe with banana aroma hinted with bubble gum. the flavor is similar. jmuhops (651), Winchester, Virginia, USA May 13, 2008 Pours hazy gold with a one-finger white head. A lot of banana in the aroma: a thick, somewhat unpleasant banana reminiscent of cheap banana-flavored gum. Sweet, citric flavor with an astringent banana finish. Braudog (3461), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Apr 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours a medium golden color, lightly bubbly, with a tight foam top. The aroma is light banana creme. It drinks with a much sweeter profile than most German weizens, with a decidedly tart lemony aspect being the predominate character. (#3436, 4/27/2008) obguthr (707), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Apr 26, 2008 Banana and clove aroma. Golden color, no head. Very dry banana flavor with a lemon grass finish. Beery with wheaty goodness. Not the best quality but decent and enjoyable. spikester (350), Salem, Oregon, USA Apr 20, 2008 Poured golden from the 22 oz. bomber with almost no head, few lacings. This is the cloudiest beer I have ever seen. It is impossible to tell if there is any carbonation due to the opacity of the beer. The aroma is minor, some fruitiness there.
This is a wheat beer for sure. Interesting hop flavor not a Northwest character at all. Hops are leathery, bitter with a slight sweetness from the malt that helps to balance the bitterness of the hops. There is a final slightly sour note that is smoothed a bit by the wheat. Nice, somewhat dry finish. Palate is full and wheaty.
This beer was very different from most wheat beers I’ve had. I wouldn’t down-rate it for that but I think I would like to try a draught version to compare.
