Roasted malty nutty flavor with some hints of caramel. Has a roasted malty nutty finish. SpringsLicker (1824), Tennessee, USA Jun 22, 2008 Thanks to Riverside AK for sending this one!
Small off-white head over a clear, ruby toned brown body.
Spicy malt aroma.
The flavor is light malt sweetness with a touch of cocoa.
Thin. bitbucket (1568), Kirkland, Washington, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma of toffee, nuts, earth. Light body and moderate carbonation. Lightly sweet taste of caramel, nuts, bread. Dry and lightly bitter finish. A nice, light, sessionable brew, but the lightness of the body is a bit of a contrast to the relatively chewy character of many brown ales, and leaves the finish seeming a bit wanting to me. tiffanya (40), Sumner, Washington, USA May 6, 2008 Nutty sweet malts, with hints of vanilla, dark cherry, and caramel. Slightly tannic. Crisp hop finish. Not as bitter as other offerings from Hale’s. killjoy966 (96), USA Apr 13, 2008 I’m not entirely sure what constitutes the "Irish Style" of brown ales but if this is it, I’m not impressed. Smells nutty and woodsy. Tastes incredibly water with a bitter hop finish being the only indication this is beer and not club soda. I live only a couple of miles from Hale’s Ales brewery and want to like them, but so far their beer have been nothing but disappointing. Time for a visit...
