bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA May 15, 2008 Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Medium roasted caramel aroma backed by citrus hop - both aromas are substantial. Near mahogany color with a beige head that sort of hung in. Near medium body with mild, creamy carbonation. Fair balance between sweet malt and hop. Lots of hop for an amber. Finishes dryish, and the bitter builds along. Good drink.
Angeloregon (1823), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2008 From a 22oz bottle purchased at By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a light amber body with a thick whitish head. Malty hoppy nose. Caramelly nutty snap. A little dull but not too bad. Very drinkable. carruthm (357), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 3, 2008 Amber ale with more pronounced hops than malts and some citrus. Flavor had the more typical amber ale profile though. stchloe (96), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 1, 2008 There is no reason to call it the red menace, its a only an amber. But communists are cool. Especially Lenin. I will drink anything approved by the Party of Revolution of the Proletariat. Heathen (492), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 19, 2008 THOUGHTS: Rather hoppy amber ale. Almost like a more malty IPA. Fairly well balanced.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a sort of cloudy, dark copper like a dirty penny with a huge rocky, off-white head that mostly lasted and left good lacing. The aroma was nice but could be stronger. There was light to moderate nutty and caramel malt, moderate to heavy citrus hops (grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime) and slight resin. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic, an moderate to heavily bitter with a long duration. There was burnt caramel malt then lots of citrus and metallic hops and maybe some resin. The medium body was sorta creamy with fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly metallic finish. troopie (470), USA Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Poured deep red with a thick fast dissipating head. Floral and citrusy aroma, many hops here, Malty refreshing taste, medium body, but a very thin finish. Still quite an acceptable red.
