The pour is murky brown (from yeast) and a small off white head. The nose is maple, licorice, some hops. The taste is pretty similar with a faded quality to each smell. Not really that good. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Pours very dark brown with lots of suspended yeast. Aroma is plum and alcohol. Flavor is somewhat off, a little too abrupt. Malty, but astringent. Pretty full bodied the finish isn’t too bad. cbkschubert (2002), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2009 12 oz. bottle (December 2007) via trade with scrizzz - Pours a clear brown color with a few floaties in there and has a 1/3 finger thick light tan head that lasted about a minute. Very light lacing and carbonation. Aroma is full of fruity esters (pineapple), light doughy malt, and hops. Flavor is much of the same with dark esters showing up in the finish. Mouthfeel was a little thinner than I excepted. Alcohol is also noticeable in the finish and really sits on the stomach. A pretty nice BW. Thanks Clint. Pours quite a dark camel brown, very low foam presence, sparse lacing .. .
some plum, light dark fruits, light tobacco, sherry like aromas, more pop up as it warms .. .
--("Mexican Hat Dance" plays)--
has held up well, 2 years , could do 5 years easy, maybe 10-15 in ideal cellars .. .
Alcohol level seems to fit nicely, has that smoothness factor ...
. ..’don’t call me dude, i’m not a stoner anymore’ .. .
More of a hybrid barleywine, an american BW but speaks with a cockney accent!!
