On tap. Slightly hazy orangey brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and nuts. Medium-bodied, a little low in carbonation, roasted malts and a little nuts and brown sugar. Absolutely no bitterness. 090709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear and golden brown with a small off-white head. Roasted breadish malt aroma, light caramelish note. Light bodied, dry and roasted malt flavoured. Bitter and roasted malt flavoured finish.

Bootleggers Brown Ale Tasted at the 6th Annual Triple Rock Firkin Fest on 4/4/2009. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from the firkin. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, bready and sweet with a touch of nuttiness. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel, nutty and sweet. The hops are earthy. Soft carbonation. Would be a great session brown ale, a low alcohol, easy drinking ale with some flavor. . Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Tap at the brewpub. The body was light brown rust colored with a light khaki head. The aroma had malty bread and apples. The taste was caramel and bitter bread crust. There was also a little bit of almonds.

Sampled at the brew house. A very drinkable beer but not much excitement about it. The flavor just was weak and not in tone with other brews they serve.

Very smooth and a little bit nutty. Not as dark as I would think a brown ale should be, but a nice drinkable beer. Had on tap at the brewery. No head to speak of so I could not comment on the lacing

Another light and mild beer by the half moon bay brewing company. Seems like they play it safe with most of their beers and try to make them easy to drink for the general public. No complaints, but nothing spectacular.
