Commercial Description:
Our ESB is made with English pale malt, an English crystal (or caramel) malt and some black malt. The hops are (English) East Kent Goldings. It is fermented with an English yeast, and our Brewer added a lot of calcium to the water to approximate the water hardness found in many parts of England. It is this water hardness, or mineral content, that gives our ESB its dry finish, which is also characteristic of the style. Formerly known as Rydal Hall ESB.

On firkin at the Triple Rock gravity fest 2006, labeled "special bitter". Great use of Speical B (?) or other toasted flavor malt. very nice malt profile in general. Low hop bitterness. Crisp, fruity esters of the english ale yeast. High acidity in the aftertaste.

Tap @ Brewery. Hazy amber color with a tan head. Floral malt aroma. Dry, easy drinking, malty and a little sweet.
