Commercial Description:
At Half Pints, we live by our motto: small brewery, BIG FLAVOR. Nothing proves this more than when we brew this extra strong ale. It is packed with five different malts for a strong dried fruit character and is hopped with UK Fuggles and Goldings for a woody, herbal aroma. This Barleywine is meant to be shared fireside with friends. Try it with a cheese plate of sharp Cheddar, Stilton, and Gorgonzola or a slice of rum soaked fruit cake. It will continue to improve with careful aging in a cool dark place, so try to save a bottle to compare with the new vintage. Serve at 12 degrees celcius in a brandy snifter. Unfiltered and unpasteurized. 75 IBUs

Aroma is pleasant, first sip is harsh next three are better. The aftertaste was unpleasant like bile ,would be better with rum soaked fruitcake or STRONG cheese. Let it sit for a year and it may mellow down a couple notches.

66cl botle, 2006 vintage. Solid amber colour, sweet berry aroma. Sweet very full bodied flavor, long finish with very little alcohol burn for the strength. Very nice beer.

660ml bottle.
2007 vintage
Pours an orangey maroon with a cream coloured small head. No lacing. Smells beautifully hoppy with light fruits, mainly grapefruit and some alcohol presence. Flavour is citric and grapefruity. Basically a reprise of the aroma but with some sugary caramel malts. Alcohol warms the throat, as another wave of wonderfully hoppy gladness wipes its way across the palate. Merry Christmas. Good Beer.

Dark mahogany color. Cookies, milk chocolate, cherries, pineapples, apples, very syrupy sweet nose. Fulld body with cherries, cookies, milk chocolate and a lingering bitter syrupy aftertaste with a touch of alcohol. A true winterwarmer that I enjoyed.

Deep amber in colour, long lasting beige coloured head, great lacing. The aroma is nicely hopped, quite sweet, lots of caramel, some citrus. The flavour is very malty, lots of caramel, noticable alcohol, very rich and chewy, quite sweet. Sweet alcoholic mouthfeel, medium/large body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, alcohol warmth. This is an in-your-face barley wine, a couple of more years and this will be just fantastic. I need lots more of this one Kris.

660ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>piscator34, thanks Kris.

Bottle courtesy of Piscator34: Poured a deep copper color ale with a nice foamy head with some good retention. Aroma of toffee and caramel malt is quite interesting. Taste is also a well balance mix between sweet malt with some toffee and caramel notes and light dry hoppy finish. Good carbonation and alcohol wasn’t discernable with an almost full body. Very well balance and well done.

A lightly hazed dark amber ale with a thick froathy dirty off white head. In aroma, loads of caramel malt, vinous notes, and citrusy floral hops. In mouth, sweet and bitter, there’s enough malt there to support the heavy hops, which are piney and resinous. Rich bodied, yet a bit too agressive. Give it a year and it will be nice. Trade with Piscator32, thanks Kris.
