On tap at the King’s Head Pub, Winnipeg, MB, 6/26/08. Hazy golden orange colour with a mostly diminishing creamy and frothy off-white head. Floral, orange, and herbal aroma. Bready malts with an orangey, nutty, and lightly herbal bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, firm and refreshing mouthfeel. Reminds of the Bushwakker Dortmunder Blend from the previous night, though a touch better.

A serviceable lager. Light coloured with initial white foam that quickly disapears. Initially cheeesy aroma that gives away to solid malts and European hops. Medium mouthfeel, certainly drinkable with a decent mild bitterness. Thanks Piscator for theis bonus.

Bronze with a full head--a more colorful than usual pils. Not much aroma, subtle hoppiness and malt. Light graininess in the body--not bad. A moderately well hopped pils--were it an ale, it would be more recognizable as an English Bitter. Never much a fan of showcased Saaz hops. Eh.

12 oz. thanks savvy! pours crystal clear dark gold. big grass and wet leaves nose. crisp light slightly fizzy body. biscuity, slightly honeyish with a touch of resin. solid pils.

A hzy golden amber pils with a thick creamy and lacing white head. Lightly bready malt with nice notes of Saaz hops, some metal notes. In mouth, a good crisp malt with lightly resinous hops, a bit of grapefruits, more British like hops. Overall, quite nice, given I’m a hophead. Medium bodied.Bottle from Piscator32, thanks Kris!

Bottle shared at KW tasting, thanks Matt7215! Medium yellow, small white head. Sweet hoppy aroma - not exactly pils like, but nice. Nice hoppy taste over some light malt - but again, this are not pils hops (or at least they do not taste like it! The brewer says they are, I will not argue!). This is pretty darn unique - hoppier than most east on BC Canadian IPA’s. But there is something about this malt/hop combo (and the interesting hop profile) that does not even approach a pils in my mind, but results in a very good beer nonetheless.

341mL bottle thanks to matt7215 at our KW group tasting. Thanks Matt. Pours a hazy deep gold, no head. Huge hoppy aroma, almost like an IPA with some sort of (possibly) Canadian hop strain (we have our own hop strains, right? Right?). Almost zero malt backbone, and zero genuine Pilsener qualities. Flavour is almost dull, very earthy, hoppy and bitter with the most minimal malt presence possible. Very ’American’ in Pilsener style in that it is not actually a Pilsener. It’s a homebrewed IPA with a lager yeast thrown in. Woo-hoo. As a diehard fan of real Pilsener’s I try not to be offended by these types of beers but it’s so hard. This one was decent but not even close to what it advertises itself as. I get ZERO Saaz out of this so that must be a lie. "Our Pils actually tastes like malt & hops- what a novel idea!", okay, cool, but how about a Pils that actually resembles a real Pils? There’s a better idea!
