Commercial Description:
Brewed in the Belgian Dubbel style, The Father is our first beer in the Half Pints Holy Trinity series. Brewed using divine inspiration and a combination of Vienna, Dark Crystal, and Biscuit malts, this full bodied ale is hopped with Czech Saaz and Styrian Goldings. The special yeast strain we have used creates the aroma of ripe fruit while an addition of Demerara sugar creates a dry finish which Monastic brewers say lends a "digestible" quality to the beer. Try it with Manitoba Trappist Cheese or with a simple family dinner of baked ham, scalloped potatoes, and honey glazed carrots. Serve at 8 degrees celcius in a wide mouthed chalice. Unfiltered. 20 IBUs.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Dark mahogany pour with a light yellow head. Nose: brown sugar, molasses, pepper, tad bit of vegetables. Taste: Oddly metallic, roasted, and caramel. Nothing like the nose. Medium to heavy mouthfeel.

bottle thanks to bu11zeye. deep brown color with a thin layer of cream froth. dark fruits and sweet malts. great thickness with a woody, fruity flavor that is quite good. no alcohol in the finish and smooth on the way down. also lumpy says he likes a big fat ass when it comes to women.

Bottle at bu11zeyes. Not a traditional dubbel at all. Pours with a small, off-white head. Hazy deep amber body. Aroma of rye, toffee, berries and chocolate. Taste of fruits, chocolate and berries. Syrupy with light carbonation.

Clear amber brown, moderate head, no lace. Toasty malt aroma, breadcrusty, with a hint of fruit. Low bitterness. More like a doppelbock in my mind. Nice.
