Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
This is an extra stout porter. Unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. A smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink, best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. It was runner-up in the ’Stout and Porter’ class at the Great British Beer Festival 1994, Champion Beer at the SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1995 and CHAMPION WINTER BEER OF BRITAIN at the first Great British Winter Beer Festival in Glasgow 1997. Gold Award - ’Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1999 and 2003.

In short: A problematic fruity sour porter. Bad bottle?
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed (probably fresh) the day of purchase
The look: Dark ruby body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose is fruity with cheap wine notes. Taste is highly problematic. First the highly roasted malts (more like burnt) have no body and it feels like ashes in water. Very fruity with way too much of a prune juice flavour. Vanilla. Then there’s that weird sourness and I’m too sure if this was infection or just a very unpleasant inappropriate fruity sourness. Anyway this was a bad beer. Not only that but it was expensive. And true story: I was drinking this shitty expensive beer at my hotel and I spilled half my glass on my laptop. Honest. I blew my $500 laptop with that shitty expensive beer. And it’s called Nightmare. No shit. This is one of those bad memory that will haunt me for the rest of my life. Like the time I caught my father jerking-off. To a baby picture. Of me.

The smell is malts, coffee, chocolate, slight molasses, christmas cookies, and biscuits. The look is brown to black in color with a decent beige head. The taste is the same as the smell.
