Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
This is an extra stout porter. Unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. A smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink, best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. It was runner-up in the ’Stout and Porter’ class at the Great British Beer Festival 1994, Champion Beer at the SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1995 and CHAMPION WINTER BEER OF BRITAIN at the first Great British Winter Beer Festival in Glasgow 1997. Gold Award - ’Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1999 and 2003.

Rich malty porter. Quite the frothy pour leading to a brief white head. Let it warm,as it can come off a bit watery when too cold. But as it warms, the chocolate and dark fruit malts erupt. Very nice!

Poured a watery, opaque black with a fast fading white head. Smells like chocolate, a little yeasty, malty and a hint of licorice. Heavy licorice flavor, heavy roasted malt. A little too one sided for me from a flavor stand point. Doesn’t look, smell or taste like an elite porter.

Basic dark brown, almost black color with a small head. Chocolatey aroma, light apple, roasted coffee in the aroma. Wow! The flavor is a big step up. Loaded with chocolatey goodness with a pleasantly bitter finish. Chocolate stays with you for minutes after every sip. A pleasant surprise.

Big 500mL bottle. Dark Brown in a reddish hue. Bright aromas of dark chocolate. Flavors of espresso. Some semisweet chocolate and licorice as well. Light bodied with a nice bitter finish! very nice beer.
