Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
This is an extra stout porter. Unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. A smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink, best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. It was runner-up in the ’Stout and Porter’ class at the Great British Beer Festival 1994, Champion Beer at the SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1995 and CHAMPION WINTER BEER OF BRITAIN at the first Great British Winter Beer Festival in Glasgow 1997. Gold Award - ’Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1999 and 2003.

Bitter coffee and chocolate aroma, very dark brown, ruby at the sides, small tan head. Taste is coffee, caramel, and mocha. Dry and sweet. Pretty good. Thanks Hogtown Harry.

Sampled from bottle. Pours clear, dark-brown with a creamy tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is deep, rich chocolate and flavor is balanced and dominated by chocolate. Nice and crisp with a bit of bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied and moderate carbonation. An enjoyable beer experience, but not great enough that I’ll indulge in again at $5.49/500ml.

500ml brown bottle touts but lacks a freshness date for this "Yorkshire Porter." Pours opaque with a slightly white head and chocolatey aroma. Medium-bodied, 5% ABV, with a tempered dark malt flavor, rich black malt character adn very dry finish. No "nightmare" here, just a drinkable porter.

This stuff is an excellent porter. I’d love to go to england and try it on cask someday. Nice cocoa and vanilla notes in the aroma and taste. Good amount of malts here. Palate was smooth. Very nice to look at also with that tan head.

Very English in character. Not as thick and heavy as some of our native porters, but still quite good and very flavorul. Complex aroma with oak, fruit, and roasted malt. Flavor is a blend of medium bodied coffee, malt, and light dried fruit. Very drinkable, a little thin. Best at room temperature.
