Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
This is an extra stout porter. Unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. A smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink, best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. It was runner-up in the ’Stout and Porter’ class at the Great British Beer Festival 1994, Champion Beer at the SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1995 and CHAMPION WINTER BEER OF BRITAIN at the first Great British Winter Beer Festival in Glasgow 1997. Gold Award - ’Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (NORTH) Festival 1999 and 2003.

500ml bottle from Knightly Spirits via mcbackus! Thanks Matt! Nose of caramel and chocolate with a light roasty note; clear rusty-brown with a medium beige head; flavor has osme light hop bitterness and roastiness, with light coffee and chocolate notes; body kind of watery.

Very dark brown beer with a small off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a port note. Initially a thin fruity flavour, but it’s followed by rich chocolate and dried fruits.

Bottle @ thewolfs pre-festival tasting, Kolding.
[thank you, ChristianScheffel]
Pours deep red-brown. A small creamy off-white film head on top. Aroma is pleasingly chocolate, light roasted and weak caramel. Okay mouthfeel. Flavour starts off a bit weak, but gains a lot of roasted tones and super chocolate finish. Very nice.

0.5L bottle pours deep deep amber with infra red edges and tan head. The aroma is a bit different than I was expecting but very inviting with roasted to burnt malts, rich sweet toffee, earthiness, molasses and some cigar ash. Nice mix of notes. The taste enters with medium body and distinct creaminess. The taste starts roasty and quickly turns sweet with toffee, molasses and vanilla. By midway rich fresh roasty malts take over along with burnt to ashy malts and some earthiness under foot. I love the way all the notes come together here. YUM.

Cockney Pub, Aarhus, DK. Bottled. Soft palate. Coffee dryness and a balanced malt flavor. Bitterness is low

I am normally not a porter guy, but this was actually well done. Some great bittersweet chocolate and roasted caramel notes throughout. A little bit of toffee coffee flavors, just a bit of a hop bite in the finish, retains balance. I was extremely pleased with this one.
