Commercial Description:
Cask, regular;
This is an extra stout porter but unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. This smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink is best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. Strong malts dominate, but hoppiness rears out of this complex blend. Nightmare has won the Gold Award – ‘Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (North) Festival in 1999, 2003 and 2006 and went on to become Champion Beer at the SIBA (North) Festival in 1995 and 2006

Cask at Cockney Pub, Århus. A ruby to dark brown beer with a creamy, medium to small beige head leaving some lacings. Slightly coffeeish nose, quite roasted, with some fruityness. Roasted, coffee aroma, a bit buttery, but in a pleasant way, some dark bitterness, a touch of cocoa and some bonfire-like smoke notes. Medium, smooth mouthfeel. Really pleasant, smooth-drinking beer feeling big without being that. (080517)

Haf pint from cask at Charlie’s Bar, downtown Copenhagen. Served at a perfect drinking temperature. Black body with a russet tint. Smell om roasted malt. Quite comprehensive taste with weight on coffee and liquorice, but where chocolate also plays a part. Mild bitter endnote. East to drink and not more than medium bodied (30.05.2008).

From cask at Charlies. Pours dark brown with a deep redish glare and a lacing tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and with a mild note of liqourice. Flavour is very minor smoked at first with a solid roasted malt and mild liqourice note following. Light acidic touch in the finish followed by a dry roasted note.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A dark clear red-brown beer with a beutiful brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and chocolate as well as hints of spicy hops. The flavor is sweet and very malty with strong notes of chocolate as well as medium notes of coffee, leading to a dry roasted finish, which also has a hint of acidity from the roasted malt. The mouthfeel is very smooth. Nice.

On gravity at the Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/08. Very dark brown with a small tan head. Big aromas of coffee, molasses and dark fruit. Sweet malt flavour with some chocolate, molasses and a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable.
