Commercial Description:
Cask, regular;
This is an extra stout porter but unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. This smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink is best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. Strong malts dominate, but hoppiness rears out of this complex blend. Nightmare has won the Gold Award – ‘Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (North) Festival in 1999, 2003 and 2006 and went on to become Champion Beer at the SIBA (North) Festival in 1995 and 2006

A Mes rate: Gravicask at the Bricklayers.
Very dark brown with a thin bubbly head. Coffee and roasted malt nose with strong notes of dried fruit and a slight sourness. Similar flavour but it’s really well balanced. Very slight hops really sorts it. Pleasing coffee finish. Good stuff. Perhaps a little thiin in the mouth. Drinks like a mild. Like a dark bitter. Interesting.

Comments: Dryish, totally flat porter with surprisingly stale and linear coffee flavours. I expected more…

Was under the impression that this was a stout. Aroma was roasted chocolate and coffee if you serch for it. Taste is similar overly roasted not enough chcolate to balance it, no hops to be found. Not my bag baby.
