Commercial Description:
Cask, regular;
This is an extra stout porter but unlike many stouts, Nightmare is not harsh or overly bitter. This smooth, massively flavoured creamy drink is best served on the ’warm’ side, allowing full appreciation of this four malt brew. Strong malts dominate, but hoppiness rears out of this complex blend. Nightmare has won the Gold Award – ‘Stout and Porter’ class SIBA (North) Festival in 1999, 2003 and 2006 and went on to become Champion Beer at the SIBA (North) Festival in 1995 and 2006

Cask, GBBF 06. Very dark brown with a beige head. Aromas are earthy, light roast malts with chocolate. Flavours are dry earthy roast malts with chocolate and tea. Some brown sugar. Quite hoppy. A bit thin but still decent.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 2 Aug) Colour is dark brown, almost black, with ruby notes when seen through light, small head. Nose is roasted with evident notes of chocolate and oyster sauce. Taste is roasted with chocolate, coffee and hints of soy sauce and tar. Very well balanced, dry, smooth, with a lovely hoppy finish. A old favourite of mine, still reliable.

Dark brown coloured porter. Strongly flavoured roast malt character but rather one dimensional. Not a beer I really enjoyed.
