Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available in pasteurised bottle.
This premium bitter has a distinctly malty character with a hint of nuttiness. The enhanced hopping rate recreates for many the good old days of a true Yorkshire bitter. Stallion gained the coveted award of Champion Beer at the 1994 York Festival.

A copper colored beer with a nice light brown head. The aroma is sweet yeasty with notes of citrus and caramel. The flavor is yeasty with notes of citrus, goldings hops, and toffee, leading to a dry quite bitter end.

Bottle, from Pearsons Farm Shop, Melton Ross. Copper bronze, thin white head and low condition. Low citric hoppiness in the nose, a little thin and tinny in the mouth with quite a harsh hop bitterness and a touch of fruitiness. Low lingering hop bitterness and some sweet toffee.

Pours dark amber colored with a thin off-white head. Caramel aroma with a slight bitterness. Sweet at first in the flavor, malty and caramelly, with some bitter hops in the fisnish. Metallic tones.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense. A particularly musty smell which was a bit offputting. The beer is dark brown with little head to speak of. There is some bitterness in the taste but an unpleasant snatch in the aftertaste. I think this beer was suffering from being a little unfresh as Hambleton is usually a reliable brewery.
