Hammer & Nail Oatmeal Stout

12/18/02: A Nice dark color with a persistent brown head. This tastes like dark sweet malt and has a nice oatmeal breakfast feel to it. Some chocolate is there when smelling this one. A good recipe.

Dark, dry, roasty. My favorite domestic oatmeal stout so far. Really really good.

Clear dark mahogany with a thin tan head. Moderate carbonaiton. Roasted barley aroma, dry nut skins, oats and light coffee. Thinnish body with notes of oats, barley, dry coffee and subtle but tasty anise. Nicely malted, as always. Deeply roasted and mellow. Dry and quaffable. Finishes a bit thicker and still heavily malted in flavor. A smooth brew. Kudos to the homebrew winner.
