500ml bottle. Lovely mellow aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Appearance-wise, very dark brown (near-black) with a good beige head. Sweet chocolate and malt flavour with a nice dry finish and long aftertaste. Smooth and very enjoyable.

Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008.
Clear medium to dark black color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is malty, roasted, earth, wood, peaty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long to average duration, and a dry finish. (Bitternes is malt). Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat. (030508)

Cask conditioned @ Guide Dog, Soton. Sweet roasted malts, chocolatey coffee. Dryer in the mouth than aroma would suggest but with the flavours continuing. Slightly empty mouthfeel. Nice flavours but not very satisfying.

A Sim rate (cask at Hove BF): The aroma could be a cappuccino...definitely coffee, but mellow enough not to be espresso. Chocolate, caramel. Sticky, even in the aroma, if that makes sense. Nice, opaque black, but no head or lace. Chocolatey flavour. It’s Green & Black’s 70% dark. So good, but misses some of hte idiosyncracies of hte aroma.
