shrubber85 (2462), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Mar 21, 2008 Bottle. Chocolate-cola malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Smokey cocoa malt flavor. Moderate body. A nice drinkable beer. SilkTork (3853), Rochester, Kent, England Aug 12, 2007 500ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. Bottle conditioned. Nicely done. This tastes fresh and alive, no sourness, and no overcarbonation. A good roasty dark beer with good balanced flavour. A warming surge of hops in the finish. This works so well. Tasty, easy drinking, little corners of flavour, no off notes, fresh, good balance of sweetness of roasty/hoppy bitterness. The only complaints would be that this is rather predictable - it tastes and behaves as you’d expect a mild to behave. But it’s damn well done, and I like milds. Bonza! imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England May 12, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Dark brown with white head. Rather thin on the palate compared to the other milds on offer on the night. Some fruitiness, but a rather roasted, coffeeish note with a heavy sweetness pervades. Still quite drinkable and tasty, but it loses out in comparison with other milds. Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England May 9, 2007 A Mes rate:
Gravicask @ Reading Beer Festival. Dark copper amber colour. Not much in the nose other than some unbrewed malt and a ver slight tea and coffee hint. Roasty malt flavour with a dusty and dry long bitter finish. A little watery in the palate. Yeah yeah. JonMoore (1547), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Aug 22, 2006 Bottle conditioned. Dark, near opaque, brown with slim head. Aroma is sour malt and fruit. taste is malty, fruity and sour with some chocolate. Medium bodied. Not for me.
