Retorp (2158), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2007 Courtesy of Quake1028. The aroma is mildly tart with muted roast malt notes, coffee and shoe leather. The body is a dark ruby-tinted brown color. Molasses, toasted grains, mild chcolate and coffee notes make up the flavor. Again it is a little tart and also tangy. Quake1028 (627), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2007 Thanks to matador for providing the growler. Black pour, no head, but the growler leaked a bit so I can cut it some slack. On the nose we have coffee, tart fruit, cocoa, molasses, tobacco and shoe leather. The taste features many of the same elements. Average mouthfeel, medium bodied. A very average porter. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Aug 11, 2007 Poured a dark brown from the tap. Had a frothy head , with no lacing. Had weak hints of roasted malts and barley. Had weak hints of hops, and spices. Very dissapointed. Nothing special here. nearbeer (1235), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 30, 2007 Draft at Greenville location. Opaque black with a small head. Aroma is a touch of smoke, earth, and metallic spicy hops. Palate is smooth, medium-bodied, a little watery and has a slight metallic twinge. Flavors of spicy chocolate, coffee, sweet smoke. Slightly better than average porter. TURDFERGUSON (1136), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA May 27, 2007 Growler from the brewery courtesy of frumptydumpty. Thanks Ryan. Pours a dark brown with a coca-cola like body. Nose is light chocolate, some coffee, and roasted malts. Flavor is similar to aroma, with a little tobbacco, and smoke in there too. Palate is a bit thin and lacking, but this also makes this an easy drinking porter for those just getting into the style. In any case, a noble attempt from an up and coming brewpub in eastern NC.
