Beer_2000 (1179), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 9, 2008 500 ml can. As a dedicated non-alcoholic beer enthusiast I was really looking forward to this beer. Last year the football club, Brann from the same town as this brewery won the Norwegian league. Hansa brewery then launched a pilsner named Gull “gold”. Unfortunately they didn’t predict this victory early enough and therefore didn’t have enough time to make a special brew, only the label (same shit, new wrapping!). To follow up this fine tradition the brewery has launched this year’s tribute to Brann much earlier. But I’m sad to see that the expectation for this season seem to be much lower then last year result should indicate (null=zero). Well, to say something about the beer itself is a lot more difficult. It looks like a pilsner, smells actually like most Norwegian macro pilsners. The flavor is really close to nothing. I know it’s possible to put a bit more flavor into a non-alcoholic beer, so why don’t they do it? We already have several other beers available in this segment; maybe it’s just for the boys in red?
Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 10, 2008 (Can 33 cl) Courtesy of yngwie. Clear pale golden with a white head. Discreet malty aroma. Thin and watery body with lightly sweet malt accents and a heavy carbonation. A vague whiff of hops in the finish. 030608 Rune (1508), Tromsø, Norway Jul 1, 2008 500ml can. Late straw coloured body under a creamy, white head. Weak smell of hops while the flavour is little more than water with sugar adjuncts. Very thin and bland (Stokmarknes, 30.06.2008). gunnfryd (2732), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 28, 2008 Can. PAle golden colour with a white head. Aroma is unpleasent, fruit, malt. Flavour is fruit, malt , sweet. Bad beer. yngwie (3454), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 28, 2008 Can. A clear, yellowish pale golden body with a nice white head. Grainy nose with some fruit. The same goes for the flavor, there’s some fruit, but it’s on the grainy side, and slightly more inviting than the aroma. Maybe a bit sweetish though. Thin body. Grainy finish. Where’s the hops and bitterness? A really boring beer. As expected. (080509) Ole_R (1183), Oslo, Norway Jun 15, 2008 500 ml can. Big platina blond head. Brilliant pale golden body. Raw grainy aroma with some nice whiffs of hayish hops. Almost flavorless, a light grainy tone, and some sweetness. Anorectic body. Short finish with traces of bittering hops.
