| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Bottle from hamiltons: pours a purple color, I think, with the only head a product of manipulative pouring....big bubbles and more from gravity than carbonation, I suspect. Nose is spot on..generous funk. Extreme sourness, berry notes, powdered sugar. Sublimeness. Completely flat unfortunately...but the berry, funk, cheese, and sourness combine nicely. I hate that most hanssens end up flat because they are so good otherwise...with prickly carbonation, this may have caused orgasm. As is, its a little needing in something...carbonation? | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2009 Thanks durhambeer. Pours a bright deep red with no head. The nose is tart and acidic, some fruit skins, mild bandaid phenol, estery, yeasty funk. Flavor has a rich fruity flavor, dark berries, tart and acidic, mildly phenolic. Palate is acidic. eaglefan538 (2385), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Bottle from SL. Pour is flat out purple. No head. No nothing. Not a bubble. No fizz or pop at all on opening. The aroma was funky leather, sour lemon and acetic notes, faint wood, currants obviously. The flavor followed, strong acetic notes, funky and acidic. More wood / oak notes would have been welcomed, light flavor, a tad on the watery side, completely uncomplemented by a flat mouthfeel. Meh, this really isn’t that newsworthy, experimental or not. Didn’t do much for me. xmarcnolanx (798), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Aroma is acedic, tart cherries, aluminum, and sweet oakiness.
Pour is still. Dull ruby with no head.
Taste is all acetic cherry with a dull stinging presence that slowly develops.
Finish is oily and sour.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2009 375mL Bottle "Hanssens Lambic Experimental Cassis" purchased at The Ginger Man - NYC. A very raw and green currant flavor, that’s aided by the kicking acidity of the lambic. Plenty of signature funk, and thankfully, not many overbearing acids. Pours a brilliant shining red sapphire and crimson, edging purplish. No head. No carbonation. The flavor is more revealing. A bright, citric heavy black currant skin dominates immediately, but quickly yields to a soft, lighlty sweet lambic acidity. A touch of lemon juice, a bit of alcohol, and an edge of spring grass. Ends with a tart smack. The balance in the fruit and lambic make it such that I somehow don’t miss carbonation too much. A worthy fruit lambic, especially for a flavor that’s harder to come by. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Thanks to durhambeer for sharing the dankness. A lovely pour like old wine with tons of sediment, as from that bottle corked too long ago. Aroma is overpowering horsey funk, with just a hint of the cassis (but it’s there, it’s there). Oak gives it some balance, but it’s unapologetically Dirt McGirtish. Just the ticket. durhambeer (1220), Durham, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2009 Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville. Even with the $13 price tag for a 375ml bottle, I now wish I would have picked up more. Damn, this is good. Pours purple with reddish tint. Still. Lovely nose of currants, oak, dark berries, and funky barnyard awesomeness. Tart and sour and a bit vinegary, but it has lovely balance... not too fruity either, but just right. So freaking good. Dry as it can be. ucusty (1900), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
