| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Bottle at Redlight. Poured a gorgeous, slightly murky, ruby brown. No head, slight carbonation. Aroma is funky, herbal, with some "green" notes. The flavor is bold, but almost refined. The currants make an appearance on the finish, but with no astringency. Awesome bottle. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 15, 2009 Special 375ml bottle at Max’s. Big Thanks to Chuck for sharing the bottle!!!! Pours a nice bright reddish with a violet tinge- somewhat hazy and gets hazier as the pours continue. Fizzy diminishing head to nothing. Aroma is straight up black currants, awesome sour and tartness, earthy herbal, great lambic funk and sourness- and lots of weird things going on with currant beers- I get green vegetable, tomato, and almost a tangerine quality. Fruits are packed into this on the flavor- tons of black currant with awesome brett lambicus, sour, brett, funk, acid everywhere and a great prickly sour finish with more tart fruit. I loved it! oh6gdx (8903), Vasa, Finland

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 5, 2009 In short: An intense lambic, typical Hanssens signature with moderate blackcurrant presence and lacking carbonation. Excellent beer. It’s Hanssens.
How: Bottle 375ml from dickinsonbeer. Post-EBF tasting session #1 at dmac hotel room.
The look: Ruby body with almost no head
In long: This is a Hanssens, no doubt about that. Hanssens sharp funky signature from start to finish. Very tart, very acidic, very sour, very funky. This is Hanssens. The fruity blackcurrant (aka cassis) flavours come out nicely but not as much as the cherries in a Hanssens Kriek. I think the nature of the fruit is such that if you want blackcurrants to come out upfront in such an intense sharp acidic beer you need to use a truckload of them, which wasn’t the case here. There is a carbonation problem with this beer. This beer is nearly flat and it prevents it from reaching the greatness of Hanssens Gueuze or Hanssens Kriek. Still a excellent beer for a Hanssens-head like me. I hope they fix the carbonation problem and make it a regular beer. For what felt like an eternity the atheist Hanssens worshiper that I am has been waiting for a new Hanssens beer like the Christians are waiting for the Jesus second coming. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle pours red color with pink head that whisps away very quickly. Aroma is very funky, sour notes with some fruit, and I just can’t stop smelling this. Its real nice. Medium light mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and is very tart, puckering, has some fruit, must, and is really tasty. Overall a nice brew. Very drinkable. Oakes (8101), gone rambling, Cambodia
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Draught cassislambik. Purple colour. Flat. Slightly balsamic with lots of fruit. Bold, curranty taste bursts with fruit. Slightly phenolic as well. A big, fruity, dry finish with a light wood accent. goldtwins (4083), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Bottle @ Ginger Man NYC. Poured a hazed red-purple color with a minimal head. Big leathery horse aroma. Tart with notes of metal and saw dust. Tart fruity flavor with a taste of currant skins and fleshy fruit in the middle. Some acidity in the throat on the finish. Semi-dry light finish. The beer really opened up after sitting in the glass to breath for a few minutes.
