ross (1492), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle. No idea how old this one is. I have had it for a long time, since NC law changed over in 2004 I think. So it is at least 3 years old. Pours out a golden color without much of a head at all. Smell has some hints of strawberries, faintly, some wood smells, a little bit of mustiness. The taste was ntohing like I was expecting. I was expecting something with some strawberry flavors, but I think the beer is old enough that I was left with a Guezue with a nice little strawberry aftertaste which wasnt really noticeable. That said, this was really good - if not what it was originally designed to be! Very sour, very smooth, and easy to drink. Good stuff!
LilBeerDoctor (244), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle, 2006. Pours a cloudy orange with no head. Aroma is extremely funky, with some sour fruit. Flavor also quite funky but not too sour, some wood/oak, sharp sour finish. I get a vague fruitiness but no strawberries in particular. Very drinkable for a lambic. I’d love to have a draught sample of this...if it existed. durhambeer (298), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 1, 2008 2006 bottle. As soon as I opened the cork I knew there would be no carbonation in this one, which was disappointing in that it affected both the palate and the appearance. Electric hazy orange pour, very still. Rose petals and strawberries with a lemony zing on the nose; extremely floral with a little brett behind it. Very tart and acetic on the tongue, burning even a little. More tart strawberry, lemon, rosewater, brett funk on the tongue. Bit of a bitter/funky finish that doesn’t end as crisply as I would wish. This really has all the makings of a great beer. If properly carbonated, I think it could have been amazing. Really enjoyed the glimpses as it was... piscator34 (881), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 29, 2008 Bottled sample. Light orange in colour, with almost no carbonation. Quite funky on the nose, along with secondary notes of lemon and light strawberry. More funk and lemon in the mouth with a background note of strawberry on the finish. On the palate, the strawberry flavor gives the suggestion of sweetness before the sourness kickes in. Very quaffable due to the low carbonation. Not overly complex, but still quite nice. Pwn3d (575), NYC, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle, corked left silent and i knew i was in for a salty uncarbonated struggle to finish my glass. Pour was orange Hi-C, hazy bright orange. Flavor is like not yet ripe strawberry and oranges. salty initially then tart. mcbackus (553), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Jun 15, 2008 2000 bottle rome pepsican: big thanks for this one, pours a apple juice colour with a smallsuspended carbonation, very thin edge of the galss white head. aroma is awesome get the great sour funk, crab apples, honey, farmy funk, slight flower, touches of strawberry adn fresh green apple skins. just amazing! flavour si wow the flavours are extemely smooth upfront, crab apple, slight berry, honey, tart sour funk comes in at the end, slight pucker and just fantstic beer.
