Commercial Description:
As with all Gueuzes, Hanssens is a mixture of several vintages to produce a lambic which is refreshingly fruity.

This is the result of blending different lambics of different ages. The second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and therefore they are stored for minimum six months in constant temperature kept cellars.

Pours very cloudy orangish yellow. Smell is very sour and funky, all the way. Taste is very sour as well with not much flavor aside from musty sourness. Pretty good for the style.

Bottle. Heavy sourness up front with light fruit notes, peaches in particular. Invigorating funk. Cloudy copper-amber with a thin patchy head. Very strong lemon acidity. Not much depth but very nice even if the palate is a bit harsh.

Last beer sampled at Heritage Liquors Inauguration beer tasting in Maplewood, Minnesota. A 750 ml bottle shared by Joebrew, pours a cloudy copper/amber brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film. Aroma of lemon zest, some multi-crystal golden grain malt, sour grapefruit and a touch of lime. Taste is spritzy, a little leathery with flavors of sour lemon, a little barnyard funk and grapefruit. Finish remains slightly sour with citrus flavors of lemon, grapefruit and some mild earthy herbs in the aftertaste.

Big thanks to Joebrew on this one! Cloudy copper color with a thin head. Lemony aroma with plenty of sourness. Great wheat base, fairly sour and tart. More lemon and funkyness on the finish. Ends dry. Sourness is leaning towards the abrasive side of the spectrum.

Hazy orange with a tiny white head. Complex aroma of grapefruit, leather oak tannin and lime. Highly acidic, tart grapefruit juice flavour with just a touch of cane sugar.

Bottle @ thewolfs pre-festival tasting, Kolding.
[thank you, dedollewaitor]
Pours hazy yellow-golden with a small film head. Aroma is tart, citric and lightly woody. Fine, dry mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasingly tart, well citric and a long woody finish. Very nice, though pretty standard gueuze.
