Big yeasty, vinegary nose with some pine forest and very subtle touch of sugary candy sweetness. I’ve been thinking about drinking this beer for the past 5+ hours. Big time sour, yeast, vinegar, citrus, grains, wood, and a touch of sweetness that likes to sit directly in the center of the palate. Medium body, balanced. Lingering aftertaste of sour oak and that same stubborn sweetness. Excellent gueuze. mreeves (257), Sammamish, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 19, 2006 This one gushed out of the bottle on me, but calmed down once I got it in the glass. Nice appearance. Very funky, tart, sour aroma, but I liked it. Dark golden color, very sour and overpowering flavor. Barnyard would certainly be an apt description. I’m not sure Gueuze is my style, but this is an interesting beer. schuimkroaat (395), Leuven, Belgium
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2006 75 cl bottle, ’bbe’ 2020. Unusually dark amber for a geuze. Slightly misty with here and there a bubble. The head is tenuous, before long disappearing without trace. The nose is rather mouldy (as in cheese) than acidic, revealing also lemon, horse blanket and a trace of biscuits. The taste is uncompromisingly sour and dry, bombarding the palate with tiny particles of wonderful fruit. An oily and woody aftertaste with a gently drying mouthfeel. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2006 Tried this on a bottle from early 2005. Very acid scent and taste, but still nice, It is a bit violent, but not overwhelming. Cloudy look, small head, a bit yellowish. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Sampled from two different bottles in a gueuze tasting.
Just above average of the gueuze I had so far. As many other gueuze, the aroma is not very evocative being barnyard/horseblanket, citrus/apple. Both poured dark orange and hopefully hazy. The sample from the first bottle (A) was surprisingly sweet, much more then the second one B). The body was also different, (A) being lighter the (B). Eventhough they were kind of funky, the dustiness is disappointing in (A) but wonderful in (B) just like astringency. There is an apparent signature; but evidently, this gueuze is very different from a bottle to another. Since I can’t make a distinction between the two bottles (they’re identical) the rating is therefore an average.

Amazingly complex aroma has a wonderful potpuri of spices, cinamon, wet fur and fleas, that leaves a dusty feeling in the nose. The colors of coudy honey enter the mouth with a stab. Strong citrus flavours appear, bleending with mushy green apples and finishing with lemon. Very enjoyable. egajdzis (3636), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2006 Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of bretty yeast, horseblanket, peaches, and citrus fruits. Taste was rather sweet, tart grapeskins, and a brett-sour finish. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2006 The predominant flavor here is grape skins--Concord grape skins, with exactly the same sort of bitterness and same fruit qualities. I happened to like this a lot.
