| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2004 Yeasty, floral, cakey, somewhat chemical aroma. Light, pale wheaty color, fairly even suspension with some larger chunks. Kinda cool label. Tart, moderately sweet, honey notes, sweet-tart candy over sharp alcohol bitterness. Good body, fairly quick finish is malty with residual fruit quality. Some silly putty phenols left on the lips. SETANTA (581), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 6, 2004 Very clear dark yellow/golden color, effervescent with small white bubbles, yeast was in medium size chunks when sediment disturbed... aroma was slightly sweet, low caramel, raw honey/wild flowers... taste was slightly solventy from the high alcohol, hops were very mellowed (old bottle), hops and German-style maltiness both present (unique for a Belgian beer: cara-vienne malt?) but came across separately and not well blended... beer seemed somewhat out of style for a Golden Ale (as it is claimed to be), which is why I gave it a low score in the overall category. hopscotch (5537), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2004 Updated: Feb 27, 2007Bottle... Hazy, straw-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is of butterscotch, spice, pear and vanilla. Well-balanced flavor. The high ABV is not overbearing, but is definitely there. Nice hop kick. Some notes of grapefruit, pear, apple, orange blossom honey and butterscotch in the flavor. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, bitter-sweet finish. Thanks to jbrus for the bottle of this fine brew! SilkTork (4184), Rochester, Kent, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2004 Bottle Conditioned. BBE Feb 2005. A Belgian Blonde. Big head that tastes quite creamy, but eventually vanishes. Medium body that vanishes in the mouth. Sweet up front but with a soft and pleasant fresh bitterness in the finish. A subtle and tasty beer with character that is very enjoyable. Little hints of flavours move around in the mouth. Very good. obxdude10 (1563), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
