Commercial Description:
HAPKIN has a very good fresh, flowery, Saaz hop aroma, a very big creamy head, a soft malt character, and a spritzy, perfumy fruitness drying toward the finish.

smells like slice, giant head, yeasty, creamy with spritzy citrus finish, after staring at it on the shelves for so long it was kind of a letdown

This was very similar to the Chimay White. Very clear, hoppy and refreshing until you add the yeast, then it's murky, malty and a bit spicy. The strong carbonation is a bit overwhelming, and blends with the clove-like yeast to give the tongue a rather dazzling sensation. The tail end of the malt and yeast leaves a slightly unpleasant bitter mouthfeel - and there is a rather acidic side the citrusy esters. Good, but not my favorite Belgian ale.

Clear golden ale. Thick white head, big bubbles. Nose is dry, hop-bitter, spices, maybe medicinal. Taste is quite dry, but underlying sweetness. Spicey, fruity, yeast. Mouthfeel dominated by the dryness, not very full. No adstringency. Aftertaste consists of restrained bitterness, building up, without ever fully losing the sweet founding. One of Belgiums' better Duvel challengers. With the takeover of Louwaege by ScotCourage, probably due for extinction. See also Thouroutenaere. This bottle BBd: 5/04

Hazy, soft golden body with medium white head -- fizzes on the pour. Aroma is apple and floral, some yeast. Taste is alcohol and apple, along with some and yeast. Finishes alcohol bitter.

I prefer this one above duvel. The taste is more bitter, and there is less sweet honey taste.

This Belgian is ok. The high ABV not to strong. Somewhat bitter and spicy flavor.

Foggy blond colour with foamy, thin, white head. Heavy saaz aroma. Thin bodied. Dry hoppy flavour with some residual sweetness underneath.
