Muggus69 (257), Sydney, Australia Oct 29, 2007 330ml bottle, 6.5%abv, bottled 15.10.07, served chilled. The label is the same as the regular Happy Goblin, but has STRONG written in marker on the label. Managed to grab the 5 remaining bottles of this from the local grog shop. Pours a slightly hazy looking pale amber body with a collar of off-white foam. Grain malt aroma, has nutty caramel note to it, odd smokiness, some subtle earthy British hop character. Body is far fuller than that of its little brother, quite rich and sticky, carbonation is moderately low. Big mouthful of caramel maltiness from the word go, quite sweet with additional nutty malt and woodiness, some floral hops appear towards a drying finish, bring with it a hint of bitterness. Seems to even out moreso as it warms. Certainly an interesting offering from my ’local’ brewery, and I daresay nicer than the Pale Ale.
