A medium bodied brown ale. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are grapefruity. Nicely balanced. A touch hoppy for a brown ale, but it gets maltyier and less hoppy as it warmed. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter jzzbassman (846), New Albany, Mississippi, USA

While not my favorite style, this did not have the watery flavor I've encountered in most browns I've tried. More complex, nutty, woody flavor than I would have thought from the slight aroma. Got maltier as it warmed, although the hops disappeared as well.
Overall, a very drinkable ale. My wife even liked it, and she doesn't typically like ales of any sort. crazyvin (1252), New York, USA

It was a little light on flavor with subtle hoppy notes and some malt character. It drank really smooth and was light on the stomach MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Oct 28, 2003 Nice brown color with a lasting tan head. Slight caramel nose, otherwise clean. Decent caramel malt flavor, without any appreciable hop flavor or bitterness. In fact, the flavor is somewhat watery. Nothing offensive, yet nothing assertive either. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 19, 2002 Slightly hazy dark copper color. Tan head that disipates quite quickly to a thin lid with a touch of lace. Smell of chocolate toffee. Somewhat fizzy feel. Malty, but not the dark roasted varieties. Butterscotch/diacetyl flavors overpower. Interesting sweet malt finish. A sweet brown? GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2002 Well roasted malt leads to the "coffeish" taste that everyone claims. definitely full bodied. I hope the brewery stays alive, as they are showing up more and more around southeastern Wisconsin. Even if it shows up just as a fad or for marketing I can still enjoy it for what it is.
