Commercial Description:
This is America's first true black hard cider. It's rich flavor is derived from a select blend of apples and special oak aging which creates a mellow, rounded character without excessive sweetness.

Yikes! This stuff ranks right up there with Mad Dog 20/20. Just like drink cheap apple wine. Whew, I cannot describe the head ache pain I had the next morning after drinking this one night. Stay away from the Hard Core.

Re-rate 6/4/02: No, I wasn't foolish enough to drink this again, but I was reading through my ratings when I saw this and cringed. I was dismayed to see that I gave this a 0.8. This is on a short list of things that I will never drink again, unless I'm stuck on a desert island for life or in Hell. First rating: Holy shit! I'll be lucky if I'm alive in the morning, never-mind finishing this. Sweet and sour in a really bad way. No head. The dark color is the ONLY thing going for this.

Why is this brew rated so low it great stuff.Nice amber color, nearly no head, strong apple aroma.Sweet/sour apple taste that is quite pleasant but i fear will lead to some hard core after effects as many of my fellow raters have posted.Over all i don't think this brew is rated very well i think it deserves a higher place.Hard to say what is the best cider since i'm not an aficciando(spelling problem) but i know what i like and this is a pretty decent cider and worth a decent rate.

Pours a deep ruby/mahogany with a slight fizz, but no head whatsoever. Apple aroma with light vinegar notes. Flavor is crisp apple tartness with a kiss of cherry and a drop of honey. No "wooden" notes... the only evidence of barrel-aging is in its smoothness - it holds light astringence, but its sourness isn’t upsetting.
