Commercial Description:
A traditional German style wheat ale, this beer is brewed in the Yarra Valley with 50% wheat and 50% barley. It is lightly bittered with hops hops grown in the Hallertau region of Bavaria. Conditioning occurs in the bottle, and provides some prominent estery notes of cloves and vanilla.

33ml bottle. Pale colour with very good carbonation and a smallish head fro the bstyle. Doesn’t look like most other hefeweizen’s I’ve had. Floral and citrusy bubblegum aromas. Lively and zingy in the mouth and a bit hazy and murky.

330ml bottle into tulip glass. A cloudy dark yellow-orange beer with a short lasting small white head. Unusual look for a hefe. Aromas of yeast, subtle cloves and lemon peel. Flavours of wheat malt and cloves with a lemon citrus finish. I could not detect the advertised vanilla notes (nor any banana). Medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel. Despite what it says on the label, this doesn’t taste anything like a traditional German wheat beer. More work required if you ask me. Expensive as well.

Murky orange with very little head. Pineapple and a little sweet. Heading in the right direction. Quite nice.

Pours a murky orange with a small head that completely disappeared...not a good sign for this style. Wheat, ginger and clove aroma and taste. Watery with no carbonation. Perhaps I had a bad bottle, but nonetheless this one was really bad.

Bottle. Poured quite clear for a hefe, and was quite carbonated. A cider-like aroma, with a touch of banana. Palate was tart and cider-like again. Very little else apart from a touch of clove. Not impressed.

Seems a bit hit and miss, this brewer. This hefe was more the latter, unfortunately. Hazy straw colour with a cratered head. Poor retention for a wheat beer. For once, the commercial description bears some relation to the contents of the bottle. Strong aroma of clove, banana, wheat sheaf and faint vanilla. Over-fizzy "grippy" palate. Far too hard in the mouth for the style. The aggressive carbonation smothers the flavours and makes it hard to drink. Malt base seems a bit thin. Minimal bitterness. Quenching green-apple finish. They need to rein in the carbonation, IMO. I found this hard going. (330ml bottle from Petersham Cellars)

Bottle (330ml). Poured hazy straw orange with a rocky, white head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of sweet bready malts with lemon zest, orange citrus, apples, dried banana’s, coriander, cloves and some grassy notes. Flavor was of sour bready malts with a sharp citrus tang, lemon zest, crisp apples and some cloves and coriander in the finish. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation, a creamy/tangy mouthfeel and a good finish. Very refreshing.
