Silphium (2029), Lansing, Michigan, USA Oct 11, 2006 On tap at Harper’s. Deep brown body, medium tan head. Chocolatey, roasty aroma with sweet notes. Rich, creamy, full body with roasted malts and chocolate opening up to a complex, deep sweetness characteristic of the best cream stouts. Appropriate depth of body to carry the array of flavors. Smooth, quaffable, and well-done. ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Nov 26, 2005 Updated: Dec 5, 2005Black body with small, quickly fading head. The aroma is sweet chocolate and roasted notes. The flavor was sweet cream, chocolate and coffee. Body was slightly on the thin side, but overall a nice milk stout. brownalegirl (199), Fountain, Michigan, USA Nov 11, 2002 Really pretty impressive. Brewpub stouts can be hit or miss and this one was a nice surprise, a direct hit, especially with the creaminess and soft roasted taste. I usually don’t like strongly roasty stouts and this one was tasteful, unlike Sean’s rating of it. hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA Nov 11, 2002 A sophisticated presentation - swirling deep browns and a lovely dark head and a gentle mouth feel, soft and full as a woman’s breast. OK, maybe that’s getting carried away, but it was a pleasant texture, and nice accents of licorice, roast, and well creamed coffee in the flavour. A good, lighter stout.
