Commercial Description:
This deep copper colored ale blends a spectrum of malts to build a medium bodied, full flavored beer. The German hops provide a subtle aroma and a clean, bitter finish. The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Alt is well-balanced, smooth, and refreshing.

Very Carmel colored, translucent, small head. Aroma is malty, like carmel very sweet. As Hector said, pleasant, but not great, which IMO is the reason to brew a "100 Barrel". Worth a try though

On tap: Pours a clear darkish copper color with a puffy and well-lacing white head. Mild caramel and ale yeast aroma. Starts lightly sugary sweet with some corn flavor and a touch of toasted crystal malt. Finishes dry and bitter with some off-flavors. Pretty close to style, but could use some more balance.

A classy looking brew with a dynamite nose-- luscious maple syrup. But it’s not sweet. Actually a little less malty than most alts I’ve tried. A spritzy mouthfeel and slightly bitter middle keep things interesting. An unexpectedly smooth finish. Perhaps can be a bit more bodied, but this beer is nonetheless quite good. I’ll have this one again.

Bottle: Good nose, fruity malty, green apple, peachy, carmel. Nice clean brownish red, orange color. Small to no head. Sweet and tangy bitterness. Again aplle carmel, honey peachy comes to mind on the flavors. Light and creamy, but flavorful dry fruity finish. I’m surprised again by the 100 barrel effort.

Nice effort, but malt is little too much. Otherwise hits the style on the money. Light body was a touch watery.

Deep ruby orange color, with a large tan head that quickly dies down. Deep malty aroma with a nice amount of sweetness. Full bodied and ends lightly sweet with a long aftertaste.

A muted malty aroma over a dark coppery color. The flavor was weak weak weak caramel and malty toffee. It’s very smooth, don’t get me wrong, just an exceptionally weak taste.

750ml bottle. Poured a dark red color with a smallish head. All malt in the aroma and couldn’t get much else. Taste has a light sweetness to it, but a bit too light. I had high hopes for something with such a special name. Body was very smooth but I hate to be critical but there seems to be something missing here.
