Aroma of deep malt and some nice light english hops - alcohol is noticeable as well with this one. Medium to Full-bodied; Sharp malty taste with nice hop flavour throughout overlayed by honey, toffee, butterscotch and some other sweet flavours. Aftertaste shows the alcohol rush around and the malt left bitter. Overall, much better than any Harpoon i’ve ever had - so worth a treat. I purchased this 65 cL bottle in some small beer shop in New Paltz, New York and sampled it on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 29-October-2005. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Aroma is of rich malt and hops with floral notes. Lightly fizzy on the tongue. Taste is malty and moderately bitter with a hint of lemon. Barely any sweetness to it. Dry, lightly hoppy ending. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2006 A translucent, dark amber pour with a light tan head. A good malt taste with a light flavor of hops. The head held up well and left sip lines. At 40 IBU it didn’t seem that hoppy but was more robust than a typical Maibock. This goes down nicely. On a hot day I wanted something refreshing that had a satisfying full-bodied flavor. This filled the bill IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Poured a hazy effervescent amber with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma of molasses, vinous fruits, some dry herbal hops. Taste is lightly sweet with some raisins, caramel, biscuit dough, lots of grassy hops leading to a dry hoppy finish with a touch of toffee. Average body. Not bad stuff. Drier than I thought it would be, but overall agreeable. DYCSoccer17 (2191), Davis, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Bottle. Buttery diacetyl aroma with butterscotch sweet aromas along with some banana-like yeastiness in the nose. Mild citric hops. Transparent copper color with a small foamy off-white head. Lots of roasted malts in the middle, turning more burnt as time goes on. Finishes with a bit of an alcohol sting. Start was mostly dry and without much sweetness. I dont know, this just doesnt seem like a maibock to me. Not sweet enough and way too dry and roasted.
