Not a whole lot to write home about with this one, my first 100 barrell series and not real impressed. Lacks the malty goodness of a real maibock. Most prevalent flavor to me was the alcohol. Wouldn’t buy more of this one. GonZoBeeR (2163), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 28, 2005 Clear brownish copper hue, smallish dark egg-shell head. Straight bready caramel nose, leafy and minty hop backing are more abvious than I’d anticipated. Soft mild floral, nutty and fruity palate. Good flavor integration, the higher than average hops are backed by a rather juicy sweet maltiness that is saved by a soft yet efficient small-bubbled carbonation. Not bad for Harpoon. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2005 100 Barrel series: Pours red with a thin off-white head. Smells nutty with some brown sugar notes shining through. Taste is on the sweet end of the spectrum with some minor rosey notes and a semi-bitter finish. This one is definitely more of an amber ale or APA than a bock beer. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Sweet mildly hoppy aroma. Flavour is pleasantly sweet with just enough hoppy bitterness to balance things. Medium palate. Slightly above average, quaffable. argo0 (6969), Washington DC, USA
