Commercial Description:
The big, malty scent of the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Maibock is present just above the floral hop nose. The combination of five malts creates a full, smooth texture that yields a clean, dry bitterness. This is a full-bodied beer with a pronounced hop and malt character.
Editor’s note. 2004 and earlier verions were not 100 barrel series, but were simply called Spring Maibock and available on draught and in 12 oz bottles.

It has less punch than other bocks I have tasted but still this is a great beer.

Kind of watery and murky-looking for a bock, but otherwise pretty good. Aroma of spices, gingerbread and oatmeal. The flavor is very roasty, with hints of oats from the aroma making an entrance. Slight citrus notes. There is something about the flavor that reminds me of a barley wine. Smooth, clean finish. This is a pretty darn good spring beer.

I love maibocks, and I loved this one. Pours coppery with aroma of caramel malt, some fruit, hops. Tastes bockish with fruit, hops, and a sweet and bitter finish. Very good.

Beautiful mahogany. Rather rich and malty. Healthy dose of hops. Tasty flavor. Clean, dry finish.

This is my first Harpoon beer, and I gotta say that it’s pretty good especially for a bock. Bocks are easy to do wrong. Caramel, sweet and well-balanced. Nice hoppy finish without being overpowering.

clear deep copper, off white head. aroma of burlap, berris, rye and earth. sweet, slightly syrupy mouthfeel. nutty toasted malt flavours off the front, going sweet and caramel like and ending firm, earthy and hoppy. very nice.
