Commercial Description:
Framboise, French for "raspberry", is a Belgian-style fruit lambic. Made with more than 4,600 pounds of raspberries, 50% wheat at a gravity of 14°p it has all the makings of a great summer time beer. Highly carbonated, it produces a wonderfully pink, lacey head. The burgundy color foretells of intense raspberry aromas. A nice, sweet start finishing with a tart and acidic finish that is light and refreshing.
Released again in late 2006 in 12oz bottles and draught.

Bottle. Fragrant raspberries and yeast on the nose. Limited head. Raspberry scent does not match flavor which is somewhat watery. It’s ok, but not as much raspberry flavor as I had anticipated. Dry finish and not overly sweet.

[2005, "session 11" bottle] Very hazy brownish-orangish red with a white fizz that receds to wisps. RASPBERRY aroma and a little sweet malt. Surprisingly dry taste with tingly tartness that is full of raspberry but without the sweetness of some other raspberry beers. There is some evidence of malt in there and a not overdone tartness that clears to a watery finish. A bit subdued, actually. Light body with medium carbonation and a clean finish.

Pours pink/red. Aroma is mostly raspberry. Flavor drier than expected. It barely seems like berr.

(22oz bottle) Large pink head atop a clear pink-red body. Aroma is medium sweet, clean raspberry, light natural astringency. Taste is medium sweet, very little up front, turns raspberry mid-tongue but the flavor is thin. Watery light body.

22oz bottle pours hazy lilac color witha fizzy pink head that fades fast. Aroma is of raspberry jam. Flavor is raspberry, tart, sharp, and somewhat bitter. The palate is fizzy and dry. My wife usually loves framboise so I intended to share this bottle with her but she couldn’t stand this so I got stuck with the bottle and It was tough to finish all 22oz.. very close to a drainpour for me..

Bottle shared with Ralph, HogTownHarry, blankboy, DougShoemaker & mds - courtesy of blankboy. Orange-pink colour with a small head. Aroma of fresh, sweet raspberry jam. Flavour is more on the tart/dry side than I expected based on the aroma. Body is light, but refreshing, matching the flavour well. It definately needs more body and flavour to be a true framboise, but it’s still an amiable quaff.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, Ralph, DougShoemaker & mds -- courtesy of me. Pours a clear dark pink with a light-pink fizzy head. Decent aroma of raspberries, better than I expected. Flavour of raspberries, slightly sour with a light bitter finish. Light bodied and lightly carbonated. Good, a tad underrated in my opinion.
