Commercial Description:
Framboise, French for "raspberry", is a Belgian-style fruit lambic. Made with more than 4,600 pounds of raspberries, 50% wheat at a gravity of 14°p it has all the makings of a great summer time beer. Highly carbonated, it produces a wonderfully pink, lacey head. The burgundy color foretells of intense raspberry aromas. A nice, sweet start finishing with a tart and acidic finish that is light and refreshing.
Released again in late 2006 in 12oz bottles and draught.

11/5/06 - Bottle - Poured cloudy reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma is fairly strong of raspberries and malt. Flavor is strong of raspberries and malt. Very nice... 11/20/05 - Bomber - Poured a cloudy and very raspberry reddish brown with a a very small head that quickly disappeared. Aroma is malty and sweet more than a faint hint on the raspberries. Flavor is fairly strong of the raspberrries and is slightly sour, as you would expect with raspberries. Sourness lasts a while. Some hoppiness, but very light. Maltiness does not come through the raspbarry.sour flavor enough for me. Feels too much like I am drinking a raspberry soda. Not bad for the style, but not "really" beer... OK, but not my favorite...

Pours with a two-finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving no lace. Cloudy red/amber color. Light bodied and light carbonation. Nose is strong raspberry . Starts sweet with good raspberry flavor, similar but not as strong as a some of the Belgian lambics. Some sourness with the finish. $3.99 for a 22oz bottle from RSVP Liquors Portland, Me.

Sampled at Bootopia. Hazy pinkish color with a small light pink head. Aroma of butterscotch and raspberry soda. Dull raspberry flavor that reminded me a wine cooler.

Poured a cloudy pink with a white head. Sour raspberry aroma interlaced with essence of foot fungus. Bland raspberry extract flavor. Thought this was either going to be a sour lambic or a sweet fruit beer, and it was neither. Instead it was bland and unimpressive. Thin fizzy body.

Way too sweet, almost like those malternatives. Odd color and just down right too sweet for me.

22 oz bottle: Pours like a hazy Mike’s Hard Berry alco pop raspberry red color w/ a short lived pink head. Initial aroma is of raspberry buttered popcorn! I wonder if Orville Redenbacher knows about this stuff! Strong raspberry & diacetyl make for a not so interesting combination! Not to fear though, diacetyl wins out as it warms to become slightly offensive and dominant! Also wisps of toasty malt, but very faint. A bit tart at the start of the flavor, seemingly well balanced w/ a dryish finish. Flavors of raspberries (go figure) dominate, but it is not really as strong as I thought it would be. Lght toast in the flavor as well, but again light. A bit of bitterness in the finish and aftertaste as is tartness. Body is not light, nor is it medium, it’s in between with medium carbonation and a dry m/f. Overall not as bad as I’d feared, but not something I’d drink more than one of either.
