Commercial Description:
Framboise, French for "raspberry", is a Belgian-style fruit lambic. Made with more than 4,600 pounds of raspberries, 50% wheat at a gravity of 14°p it has all the makings of a great summer time beer. Highly carbonated, it produces a wonderfully pink, lacey head. The burgundy color foretells of intense raspberry aromas. A nice, sweet start finishing with a tart and acidic finish that is light and refreshing.
Released again in late 2006 in 12oz bottles and draught.

(22oz bottle) Large pink head atop a clear pink-red body. Aroma is medium sweet, clean raspberry, light natural astringency. Taste is medium sweet, very little up front, turns raspberry mid-tongue but the flavor is thin. Watery light body.

Bottle. Not as good as i was hoping. Some light sweet rasberry, with an ever so slight tart character. Sweetish though, with some buttery/caramel characters coming through at times. Drinkable, but dissapoiting.

I’m glad this one got the more generic fruit beer label as it falls well short of a lambic. Ruby red and subtle carbonation with some mellow rasberry syrup scents. I couldn’t pick up on any of the barnyard elements commonly found in most examples of a lambic. Taste is very sour and stale like a rasberry pop tart. Weak mouthfeel.

Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is murky medium reddish-amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cheese), with a note of raspberries (with seeds). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Pretty close to opaque berry-blood color, big fizzy head dies into a creamy thick lasting ring around the edges....aroma of fresh, slightly unripe red raspberries with hints of honey, butterscotch, bit of pale earthy malt...so far, so good, but on the tongue, alas, this is a typical insipid brewpub-type raspberry wheat, faintly tart/sour, tasting of cheap watery raspberry juice, strong grainy sourness, a bit of lactic acid, with a heavily carbonated brackish finish. Too bad, it started off quite nicely.
