Not much in the nose; hints of malt. Flavor is all sweet and malt, not much complexity or hops, but plesant. This would be a great everyday beer. While it’s not amazing like a Stone IS, it’s also not so overwhelming that you need a few days to recover.... pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2006 Pours out a dark black with a decent sized brown head. Aroma is mosty roasty. Taste is most chocolate with some roasted malts and some hops here and there. Not very well balanced and a bit light bodied for this style of beer. argo0 (6985), Washington DC, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 9, 2006 (22oz bottle) Brown-black body with medium brown head, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, roasty, chocolate, some apple(!), light vinous. Minimal flavor up front before a burst of flavors mid-tongue through to the swallow. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, some vinous, light apple, roast. Smooth medium-full body. Ok, but the sweetness and that apple quality detract. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 9, 2006 Courtesy of Pailhead. Brown almost black with minimal head. Huge chocolate and coffee aroma, nint of alcohol in the background. Initial flavor very sweet chocolate fades to roasted grain and coffee in the finish. Residuel sugar sweetness in the finish. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2006 Bottle: Nearly black, thin tannish head, fairly nice lacing.   Very sweet nose, chocolate and cocoa, even a bit of appleskin.   Very minor hop presense.   Sweet roasted malt flavor, did I mention sweet.   It seems almost sugary sweet.   Fairly smooth, but not big.   Lingering cocoa on the finish.   This is probably one of the sweetest stouts I think I have had.   Not bad, but not robust as I thought it would be.   Thanks Dan for the bottle!

Aroma of roasted nuts and roasted coffee. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head. Sugary sweet chocolate with a roasted coffee finish. Moderate cocoa flavors in the background. Tastes too sugary sweet. Almost as if they took a stout and added some sugar and cocoa powder. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
